What is there to know about the Skytrain project?
- It will be spearheaded by a stable company under Alliance Global Group, Incorporated (AGI).
- Its aim will provide passengers a faster, and more convenient travel experience from BGC to MRT Station Guadalupe, reducing it to an estimated five-minute travel.
- It could be interconnected with the planned subway system from Mindanao Avenue, Quezon City to NAIA, Pasay City.
Whether you’re a Filipino resident offering a condo for sale at The Fort or an immigrant looking for a place to reside in the Philippines, Bonifacio Global City (BGC) is emphasizing its consideration being the best place to live in today. Not only is it among the fastest growing business districts in the Philippines, but it is also becoming the best choice for residence.
Residents of BGC has the advantage on almost every corner of the said place, from convenience stores, parks, shops, malls, museums, and many others. But it does not end there – if you’re worrying about commuting to and from BGC, Andrew Tan can now back you up with his proposed monorail project!
What is a monorail?
So, let’s make this clear first: what is a monorail? As defined by Google, a monorail is a railroad wherein the track consists of a single rail. The track is commonly elevated, and balances the train as it runs through the rail.
The fastest monorail in the world today is currently Japan’s state-of-the-art maglev train which runs to a maximum of 600 km/h. It travels from Tokyo to Nagoya, and is expected to cover the 410 km distance between Tokyo and Osaka in 1 hour and 7 minutes in 2045. The same country is planning to support the Philippine’s planned subway system’s funds in the near future.
Who is spearheading the project?
As reported by Rappler, the Alliance Global Group, Incorporated (AGI), owned by the renowned tycoon Andrew Tan, is now moving to infrastructure projects through its newly built company Infracorp Development. The said company will now take over infrastructure deals to participate in the national government’s private-public partnership (PPP) projects.
What is the scope of the project?
In order to aid the endless traffic in EDSA, the busiest road in all of the Philippines, Infocorp Development voluntarily submitted a proposal regarding building a 2 km monorail project coined as Skytrain. The said project will link Fort Bonifacio to the MRT Guadalupe Station, which will hopefully benefit an estimated number of 60,000 – 100,000 passengers a day.
As stated in the proposal, the project will use an “automated cable-propelled monorail technology” that will help minimize the commute time of passengers from Bonifacio Global City (BGC) to the MRT Guadalupe Station in Mandaluyong to a good 5 minutes. The project will build a station at Uptown Bonifacio, Makati City, and near the MRT Guadalupe Station.
How long will the expected construction take place?
According to the proposal, once the government approves of the said project, the Skytrain monorail project will take at least 3 years to build. The company also opens its door to connecting the proposed project with the recently planned first ever subway system that the government had recently approved to be built at Mindanao Avenue, Quezon City to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Pasay, Metro Manila.
Key Takeaway
Once the government approves the proposal from Infracorp Development, both BGC and Makati residents can expect a faster and more convenient travel experience in the following years. Not only that, but living at The Fort’s condos for sale will put you at an advantage and keep you away from the stress of being stuck in EDSA’s heavy traffic.
