The newest home for artists in the Philippines is the BGC Arts Center. It was brought to life by the same nonprofit organization that created the Mind Museum: The Bonifacio Art Foundation. The BAFI created the arts center to provide multiple platforms in which artists can share, explore, practice, and exhibit their craft. It will make any expressive soul or any art enthusiast wish to live closer and start canvassing for condos for sale in the Fort.
The BGC Arts Center is not just a single space. It holds many venues in which various forms of art events can take place. These include the following:
Maybank Performing Arts Theater
The most striking and attractive of all the spaces in the BGC Arts Center is the Maybank Performing Arts Theater. It’s a 3-story building whose design rivals those of the best condos for sale in the Fort. Also, it houses most of the art center’s event venues.
However, the most notable of all is the Globe Auditorium. This is a 400-square meter theater with a ground level and two balcony levels. On the ground level are your standard bleachers with chairs. These chairs can be retracted under the bleachers and the bleachers themselves can be retracted under the balcony. Wow! That makes this space the perfect venue absolutely any type of performance; even a standing room concert! It’s also a great for musicals since a portion of the ground level can sink into the ground; providing enough space for an orchestra pit. With all the seats up, the theater can fit 500 people.
On the second floor – just outside the entrance of the first balcony of the Globe Auditorium, is the Zobel de Ayala Recital Hall. This the perfect place to hold rehearsals because of the viewing deck from the third floor, ballet barres, and the mirrored wall. The black curtains embedded in the venue allow for recitals and performances to be held here as well.
Other venues locate inside include the Daiichi Properties Lounge, Exhibit Hall, NutriAsia Lobby, and W Group Lounge, which are great for exhibits.
Alveo Central Plaza & Sun Life Amphitheater
The moment you step outside the Maybank Performing Arts Theater you will immediately be greeted with two more venues. The biggest one is the Alveo Central Plaza, a large lot filled with beautiful landscaping and artwork. The charm here is its open space that makes it the perfect place for open air events and cultural bazaars. There is also a small platform for small scale performances. For the larger ones, there is the Sun Life Amphitheater located at the end of the plaza. This is an amphitheater that is and functionally designed for outdoor performances.
McCafé
Finally, there is a 24/7 McCafé found in between Maybank Performing Arts Theater and the Alveo Central Plaza. This smartly placed café is the best place for artists and audience alike to relax before and after events. Being a few steps away from multiple condos for sale in the Fort, it’s also a great place to unwind.
Key Takeaway
The BGC Arts Center is truly the artist’s playground. With such flexible venues, it’s only a matter of time before the next performance art masterpiece is born here.
