Plenty of Filipinos today enjoy living in commercial areas like The Fort. Condos for sale in these places are extremely popular due to the available amenities in the vicinity. After all, popular shopping malls, various modes of public transportation (e.g. train stations), and different entertainment venues like clubs, museums, and movie theaters can be found in the Fort.
Young professionals are especially interested in residing in high rise condominiums because they are often located close to their workplaces, ultimately saving them money, time, and effort. As a result, they are able to allocate their funds on the things they love, such as books.
Are you one of those people who can’t get enough of books? A lot of people prefer to spend their money on books for various reasons; for some, they provide an escape especially after a long and grueling day. Meanwhile, there are individuals who simply adore books because they allow them to access different worlds and live various lives through their pages.
For all the entertainment and comfort that they provide people, it is only right that owners take care of them properly. A moving bookshelf is ideal for those who like to read in various places around their unit. This way, they can take their collection wherever they choose to curl up and read.
Materials:
- Wooden Cable Spool
- 12 3-quarter-inch-thick wooden dowels (which should come out as tall as your wooden spool when it lies flat on both of its wheels)
- 3 casters
Directions:
- Let the spool lay on either of its wheels. Get a ruler and measure the distance between the upper part of the bottom wheel to the upper part of the top wheel. Afterwards, grab your handsaw and cut the dowels to this size. Once you are done, sand the dowels as well as the spool.
- Next, you have to determine the distance between the spool’s core and the outer edge of the wheel. Now, divide the measurement into half.
- Measure the distance determined in the previous step and mark it using a pencil. Start from the outer edge of the upper part of the top wheel. Repeat this process around the circumference of the spool. Make sure that the marks are spaced evenly.
- Use a three-quarter-inch spade bit to drill all the way through the top wheel at each mark. Then, get your hammer and drive one of the dowels into the hole. Make sure that its bottom is secured against the wheel at the bottom. Repeat this until all the dowels are finally attached to the spool. If you want, you can paint them; just make sure that they are dry before proceeding to the next step.
- Place the three casters evenly in a triangular pattern atop the upper wheel. Make sure that each of them are located 1 inch from the edge. Then, drill them into place. Finally, flip the spool over and start placing your books in your new mobile bookshelf.

Amaze your guests with this bookshelf that will make your books seem as if they are floating on air!
Materials:
- A stack of books (for weight)
- Glue
- Ruler or tape measure
- Large wood screws
- Small wood screws (flat headed)
- Pen
- Carpet Knife
- Good sized “L” bracket
- Book
Directions:
- Pick a heavy book that you don’t want to read again or you are considering disposing. Then, pick a page from the bottom. Measure from top to bottom and mark the middle of that page. Then, set down your bracket and draw an outline around it.
- Cut out a hole through the pages that is deep enough to fit the bracket. Do not cut from the initial page where you made a mark and up. Instead, keep the hole in the bottom part of the book only.
- Then, use your carpet knife to cut a space for the “L” bracket on the front cover of the book. This will ensure the book will sit flush against your wall.
- Place small wood screws to lock the “L” bracket. Place some on either side of the book’s edges to secure its pages together as well. To do this, hang the bracket over the desk’s edges, counter, or chair. Put some pressure to hold the pages down as it will try to rise up as you insert the screws.
- Afterwards, apply glue to hold the bottom cover of the book in place. Place a stack of books or something heavy on top of it and leave it to dry overnight.
- Attach the bracket and the book to your wall with the use of a large wood screw.
Follow the steps enumerated above and create cute and amazing bookshelves for your book collection!
