Your Condo’s Best Weapon to Have Bigger Space

Let’s face it. Storage is one of the most challenging dilemmas for many home owners; but with the right mindset and storage options, you can achieve a spacious abode by storing your belongings properly. Here are some tips on how to do just that.

Go Crazy with Labelling

Make the marker your best friend when storing your things. Label everything—the most obvious, the hidden, and you can even go as far as making a checklist of the contents. Proper labels will help you identify your belongings once you decide to un-bury it from storage. This also helps in prioritizing which boxes to put inside your storage room.

Labelling could be a fun activity, but when it comes putting the boxes together, it becomes more fun! Even the smallest corner in your condo can hold a great deal; just use the space wisely and if you can find the cutest box or decoration, that would be awesome.

Stacking the boxes can be challenging because you have to ensure that each one fit perfectly to avoid toppling. This is where your Tetris moves come out. Don’t stack the boxes all the way to the top. You can also add breakers to keep the balance.

It doesn’t need to be complicated. Simply scribble a basic drawing, highlighting the most important boxes. Then tack it on a wall or keep it in a folder and let your memory work hard elsewhere.

Choose Boxes according to the Size of your Belongings

It is important to choose the right sizes of boxes so that you can estimate the space that it will consume once you start stacking it. Also, given that you live in a condo, the boxes should also be proportioned to your home to create an illusion of bigger space.

Purge Unnecessary Items

Let go of items that  are broken, heavily stained, not working, or unnecessary because this can save you time and space. Go through your things at least twice and have boxes that are for donation, recycle, or throw away. This strategy will help you identify items that really matter and will result to bigger space.

When packing, group similar things together. Office supplies should be stored in its own box and the same system goes for clothes. This avoids confusion whenever you want to bring out something again in the future.

Packing and storing are tiresome jobs, but you can make it easier if you make a checklist of the important things that you need to store, throw, or donate. The better prepared you are, the less stressed you’ll be.
